My story:

I began homeschooling two years ago with my first child.  It was time for him to register for kindergarten and we went through all the motions but I just couldn't get a good feeling about sending him.  We had some neighbors at the time that homeschooled and we had known a few other homeschooling families.  Each family had traits we loved and some we didn't love too much!  It hadn't entered our minds before but we knew that homeschooling  was the path we should take that first year.

Things went well but Kindergarten curriculum isn't too time consuming and I only had the one child to formally instruct.  As year two approached our second child was ready for kindergarten.  Again we chose to homeschool and we loved it.  The challenges were trying to instruct two children of differing ages and keeping two sets of curriculum separate.  During this year I also had our infant daughter to care for.  This wasn't too bad because she wasn't mobile and she was a very content baby.

As we began this journey I was frustrated with the information I found.  I found very radical ways of thinking for homeschooling and against it.  I also found it frustrating that it seemed like the homeschool families vs. the public school system.  It is hard to get cooperation in some instances.  This year as I begin new curriculum I wanted to create a site full of resources and help for people trying to decide what their families should do.  Personally, I don't believe homeschooling is for every family.  For us it has worked, so far.  I have enjoyed the past two years immensely but I LIKE my kids and I love to be with them as much as possible.

We also struggled with certain opinions of family members and friends.  Hopefully this site can help all families realize that whatever educational option you choose there is support for you.  Just remember you can't please everyone all of the time.  You can only do what you believe to be right for your own family.

Eventually I hope to have a page of statistics done by both the government and private parties to show whatever findings there are so that other families can feel like they are getting some education to base their decisions on.  In the meantime we will try to give you the best information that we can find.

Good luck to all families, no matter how you educate your children!  We hope to support and uplift everyone.
